Rima Shahid joins Women4Change as inaugural executive director

For Immediate Release: Sept. 15, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS – Rima Shahid will lead Women4Change Indiana (W4CI) as its first, full-time executive director starting Monday, Sept. 18.

In less than a year, W4CI has grown from a grassroots gathering into a powerful, non-partisan movement of energized women dedicated to creating positive civic change in Indiana’s communities and the state overall.

Shahid is a founding member of the W4CI Steering Committee. As executive director, she will lead the daily coordination of W4CI activities and programs as well as strategic plans for growth and impact, while engaging the organization’s base of grassroots volunteers.

Shahid joins W4CI from the Muslim Alliance of Indiana, where she has served as executive director since 2015. During that time, she significantly enhanced the alliance’s impact by developing major new programs and initiatives to build community. Rima is is a well-known speaker at political and interfaith events throughout Indiana.

A native Hoosier, Shahid spent more than a decade living in the Middle East, where she worked as trade development officer at the Pakistan Embassy in Bahrain.

"We are delighted to welcome Rima Shahid as our Executive Director," state Women4Change co-founders Rabbi Sandy Sasso and Jennifer Nelson Williams. "Having worked with her on many community events, we know her talent, vision and commitment to civil discourse will help to grow Women4Change Indiana and expand its capacity throughout the state."
