Warm Drinks, Hard Talks: Educating and Empowering Women Across Indiana for 2026
As Indiana looks toward 2026, one thing is clear: women’s voices must be centered in shaping what comes next.
Women4Change Indiana is launching Warm Drinks, Hard Talks, a new statewide initiative designed to empower, educate, and collaborate with women across Indiana, with a particular focus on rural communities and cities outside Indianapolis. Through facilitated, community-led conversations, women are invited to reflect on the issues that matter most to them and to one another as we build momentum for change. At a time when many women feel disconnected from civic and political processes, Warm Drinks, Hard Talks creates intentional space for dialogue that strengthens agency, deepens understanding, and builds collective power.
EMPOWER: Creating Space for Women’s Voices and Agency
Warm Drinks, Hard Talks begins with empowerment—meeting women where they are and affirming that their lived experiences, concerns, and hopes are valid and essential.
Across Indiana, a lack of accessible community spaces has left many women, especially in rural areas, feeling isolated, unheard, and distant from decision-making that directly affects their lives. Warm Drinks, Hard Talks responds by creating welcoming, local environments where women can speak openly, listen deeply, and recognize their own influence.
By gathering around something simple and familiar, coffee, tea, or another warm drink, participants are invited into conversations that:
Center women’s lived experiences.
Build confidence in sharing perspectives and priorities.
Reinforce a sense of agency and belonging.
These conversations are not about telling women what to think or do. They are about empowering women to name what matters to them and to see themselves as changemakers in their communities.
EDUCATE: Building Understanding Through Shared Experience
Education is not limited to formal instruction. During Warm Drinks, Hard Talks, education happens through dialogue, reflection, and shared learning. Facilitated conversations help participants explore how personal experiences connect to broader civic and political realities as we head into 2026. Through guided discussion, women gain:
Greater understanding of shared challenges and opportunities.
Clarity around how individual concerns intersect with collective issues.
Insight into the many forms civic engagement can take.
Rather than focusing solely on policy specifics, Warm Drinks, Hard Talks emphasizes context, connection, and critical thinking, helping women better understand both their own perspectives and those of others. This approach ensures that education is accessible, relevant, and grounded in real-world experience, not abstract theory.
COLLABORATE: Strengthening Community-Led Leadership
At its core, Warm Drinks, Hard Talks is built on collaboration.
Women4Change Indiana partners with local organization leaders and engaged women across the state to facilitate conversations using a shared discussion guide. This model ensures the program remains community-rooted, locally responsive, and scalable across Indiana.
Facilitators are equipped with tools, printed materials, and resources to lead conversations in their own communities. Each facilitator group also receives support to host their gathering, reinforcing the idea that collaboration requires investment, trust, and shared ownership.
By bringing women together across regions and backgrounds, Warm Drinks, Hard Talks strengthens networks and elevates grassroots leadership that will continue beyond the program itself.
Program Outcomes: From Conversation to Collective Power
By integrating the Empower, Educate, and Collaborate pillars, Warm Drinks, Hard Talks supports Women4Change Indiana’s broader goal of helping every woman find her voice, understand the power of her perspective, and build the confidence to speak up on behalf of the issues that matter most to her. Together, these outcomes help transform individual conversations into movement-building momentum.
Women4Change Indiana will host multiple Warm Drinks, Hard Talks conversations across the state throughout 2026, beginning with conversations planned on January 12 and January 20. These gatherings offer women the opportunity to enter the new year feeling connected, informed, and activated—grounded in community and ready to shape what comes next.
Registration is open now. Participants are encouraged to attend the session closest to them.
