Our Mission
We provide civic learning and equip Hoosiers to engage in our democracy to achieve better outcomes in health, economic stability and personal safety for women in Indiana.
Our Vision
Hoosiers are free to vote and Indiana’s public policy achieves equitable outcomes for all women in health, economic stability and personal safety.
our history
Our founders, Rabbi Sandy Sasso and Jennifer Nelson-Williams, were deeply disturbed by the breakdown in civility witnessed during the heated 2016 presidential campaign. After the election, they decided to do something to help restore civil discourse in our society. When more than 800 people showed up for the first meeting of Women4Change, they knew they were onto something big, so they established a steering committee and board of directors to develop a strategic plan for the organization moving forward.
Our Civility Agreement
Civility is a core W4C value. It’s so important to us that we developed a Civility Agreement, which we use to guide our direction as a group as well as our actions as individual members. We ask that you model this behavior in your daily life—both online and off!—because change starts with us.
I pledge to be civil in my public discourse whether in agreement or disagreement.
I will respond to injustice and speak up in the presence of name-calling, stereotypes, slander and slurs.
I will do this for the sake of our children, for the healing of our country, for the future of democracy and for peace.
