Changing the Narrative: From "War on Drugs" to Public Health

  • Indiana Statehouse 200 West Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204 (map)

Join us for a day of advocacy and discussion at the Indiana Statehouse on March 19th from 10AM-2PM. As we witness the crisis continue to extend its reach across our country, communities and families with little end in sight, we hope that we can work together to better understand the crisis through the lens of public health, and overcome the antiquated and failed "War on Drugs." Though we see our state push for increased treatment capacity for substance use disorder, we have yet to answer the complex needs of those with substance use disorder (SUD) that one endures before and after treatment. Whether it is the criminalization of syringes, lack of protections for those with SUD, or the absence of support for families one thing is certain: the War on Drugs is more often than not a War on People With Substance Use Disorder, and a war that will not be won. So, join us as we redirect the narrative around drug use and SUD to reflect what it is, a complex biopsychosocial phenomenon - a public health crisis.

This event is OPEN to the public, though we do appreciate RSVPs on Facebook and Eventbrite. The location of this event is on the 4th floor on the North side
